Varanasi is renowned for its Banras silk, known for its softness and elegance, which has made Banarasi silk saris highly sought after for their intricate designs.

The shawls are hand woven on old wooden looms often in the weavers’ home. The hand weavers’ of Varanasi have been practising their craft for centuries. Their looms, often simple and wooden, are set up in small workshops throughout the city.

The shawls, like the saris often feature floral and paisley patterns. The paisley design is believed to ward off bad luck. These patterns are not just decorative but are deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of the region.
